PORN TOUR Resident guitar genius Tim Moss is joined by Dale Crover (Melvins/Nirvana) and Billy Anderson (Legendary Producer/Enginear of Neurosis, Mr. Bungle, Fantomas, Crisis, Sleep, Orange Goblin, Cathedral) for a US Tour coinciding with an appearance at SXSW. As many people know, just getting these three musicians together in the same room at the same time can prove to be quite the daunting task, much less for a tour, but the Gods of Asgard have smiled down upon us from up high, allowing for the stars to align in a such a way as to make this tour possible. Considering how busy their respective schedules with other musical projects keep them, this tour should prove to be quite memorable. Think about it, when was the last time your were able to see a band of musicians of this caliber up close and personal in such an intimate setting, such as the clubs that these shows are taking place at? Mark you calendars... 03/11/05 - San Francisco, CA @ Bottom Of The Hill 03/12/05 - Los Angeles, CA @ Zen Sushi 03/13/05 - Flagstaff, AZ @ Mogollon Brewing Co. 03/14/05 - Mesa, AZ @ Hollywood Alley 03/15/05 - Albuquerque, NM @ Launchpad 03/16/05 - Oklahoma City, OK @ Green Door 03/17/05 - Ft. With Wine, Women and Song... Tim Moss is joined by Dale Crover (Melvins/Nirvana) and Billy Anderson (Legendary Producer/Enginear of Neurosis, Mr. Bungle, Fantomas, Crisis, Sleep, Orange Goblin, Cathedral). Enough said right there. A Legendary line-up indeed. Their first recordings in almost three years since the EP "Experiments in Feedback" (though technically the true follow-up to their Man's Ruin debut "Porn American Style,") "Wine, Women and Song..." picks up right where Tim and Co. left off.... Drifting aimlessly in the coldest reaches of space where the stars align in such a way that it almost seems pre-destined that an album could be born of equal parts Black Sabbath, Verve, John Coltrane and Pink Floyd. Throbbing rhythms of bass and drums melt seamlessly into avant-Iommi jazz, with free-flowing guitar psychedelic noise flowing back to bone crushing rawk; and that's just the first track. Track Listing 1. Succulento 2. Mastodon Entrée 3. Glory Will Be Mine 4. Morning Star Rising 5. The Five Books of Theaeneas Book I. Descent Book II. Assembly of the Silent Book III. Chimaera Awakens Book IV. What New Desire of Blood Book V. Purging by Fire 6. Last Song PRESS A few remarks about the latest album Wine, Women and Song... - out now on Small Stone Records: "It's the expansive excursions into drone and skull-cracking riff chaos heard on such epics as "The Five Books of Aeneas" and "Last Song" that will have fans of left-field heaviness genuflecting at the altar of this band" - SF Weekly "dirgy Sabbath-Melvins bath where even the cleanest-sounding song - the 15-minute, five-part "Five Books of the Aeneas" - sounds hatched from Pink Floyd's Meddle-ing acid flashbacks" - San Francisco Bay Guardian "Wine, Women and Song... moves from these deep spacey jams to sharp, angular riffing with complete ease. There is a tremendous amount of ebb and flow on the whole record, with long quiet builds setting up supremely satisfying riff bashing. Throw in some great songs, stellar production and a monster rhythm section, and you have that most elusive of records, familiar enough to be easily digestible, and complex enough to listen to over and over. This has the hallmarks [earmarks?] of an album with tremendous staying power, it's consistently heavy and consistently interesting. So good it's sinful!" - Roadburn Magazine "Some might perceive Porn's (also known as Men of Porn) choice of cover art for 2004's Wine, Women and Song as distasteful or downright grotesque. But then, this deeply disturbing, but certainly stylishly rendered image of a nude child, or child-like thing (designed by famed artist and former Man's Ruin Records chief Frank Kozik) perfectly exemplifies the dark, foreboding, yet captivating aesthetic behind this side-project supergroup." - AllMusic.com "I guess they dropped (The Men Of) from their band title and just go by Porn now. Cool. Whatever they call themselves, this is still one of the best bands out there as far as heaviness and odes to the glory era of Pink Floyd is concerned. This is a full breadth and amazing album." - Zero Magazine "There's no substitute for standing in a small club surrounded by the sound of Porn, but Wine, Women and Song is truly the next best thing." - High Bias |
